“THIS CULTURE OF LEAKING MUST STOP”
The White House’s anger about leaks is growing and the Trump administration is stepping up efforts to crack down on leakers in both government and the media.
Jeff Sessions Says Leakers Will Be ‘Caught And Prosecuted,’ White House May Use Lie Detectors
According to libertywriters, the Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein are set to discuss what the Justice Department calls “leaks of classified material threatening national security” and will be holding a news conference about the leak investigations on Friday.
Sessions announced that he will step up subpoenas for the media. He said he respects the media but says that respect is not “unlimited.” Sessions said that the DOJ will pursue subpoenas. He went on to say:
“I have listened to career investigators and prosecutors about how to most successfully investigate and prosecute these matters,” Sessions said via MSN. “At their suggestion, one of the things we are doing is reviewing policies affecting media subpoenas. We respect the important role that the press plays and will give them respect, but it is not unlimited. They cannot place lives at risk with impunity. We must balance their role with protecting our national security and the lives of those who serve in our intelligence community, the armed forces, and all law abiding Americans.”
He then clarified that “The Department of Justice is open for business.”
